Ask for Help When You Need It
By Flora Morris Brown, Ph.D. | June 28, 2008
A recent article on Gearfire.net urges readers to ask for help as soon as you need it. The article mentions such sources as
-
The F1 Help key on your computer–troubled computer users forget it’s there for help
-
The Internet–but be sure you consult reliable sources
-
The library–still holding strong as a great source, especially when you enlist the aid of the librarian
Here are more great places for help
-
Yelp.com –When I want to find a local restaurant, spa, coffee shop with free wifi, etc. I go to this site. The reviews are accurate and have helped me find some gems in my neighborhood that I would not have given a glance otherwise.
-
Cheap friends–When I’m looking for the best bargains I ask my frugal friends. While I sometimes tease them about being cheap, they are the best source for finding low-cost quality items and events. One of my daughter’s friends, for example, always seems to know where you can get free Starbucks, restaurant gift certificates, lowest movie theater, free live performances, etc.
-
Local throwaway newspapers–When you pick up that free local newspaper from your lawn, browse through it before assigning it to the trash. You’ll find free and low-cost events of interest in your neighborhood. With the price of gas, you’ll welcome places that are walking distance.
